Police Department Council Minutes Statement

Police Department Council Minutes Statement

Good day to all,

I’m writing this statement to address several issues. The first thing I would like to address is the surveys. I want to start off by thanking each of you that turned in a survey. We received approximately 24 surveys to date. We received numerous comments and suggestions. I have taken all these into consideration for further improvements to the Cokeville Police. We did receive four surveys addressing concerns about traffic enforcement on US 30. I feel there are some misunderstandings behind the purpose of traffic enforcement and I would like to address these here.

On Sunday afternoon (July 15), a wildfire broke out on the east-side of US 30 about 5 miles south of Cokeville. The blaze was thought to be ignited by lightning. The fire burned approximately 800 acres of grass and sagebrush mostly in B.L.M. land. No structures were destroyed and no one was injured. US 30 was closed between Cokeville and Sage Creek Junction and all residents near the blaze's path were evacuated until the wildfire was extinguished later that evening.
